Objective

Replace the Turbowerke Meiben smoke exhauster manufactured in Germany back in 1974. Install the new smoke exhauster onto the existing foundation and have it connected to existing flues. Identify the smoke exhauster's effective performance parameters. Increase the new machine’s output capacity by 10%. Implement dual controls: by means of a guide vane or by means of a VFD. Make an additional calculation of the impact and possible use of a throttling valve in the flue.

Solution

Testing of the existing smoke exhauster in various modes was conducted and its performance parameters were identified. In order to enable using a pre-existing mounting location we adapted our aerodynamic configuration to fit with the shapes of the customer-provided housing parts.

Aerodynamic tests were conducted and the results were confirmed. The smoke exhauster's efficiency was increased by 6%.

Result

The equipment was put into operation in 2020. Performance measurements were taken to confirm that the smoke exhauster's performance complies with its rated values. The equipment is currently being operated without experiencing any failures. We received a recognition from the customer.
