Fume extraction system for blast furnaces of a metallurgical enterprise

Objective

Development and manufacture of energy-efficient smoke exhausters with output capacity of up to 1,000,000 m³/h intended to improve the performance of the blast furnace fume extraction system. Ensuring the required pressure while taking into account the changed routing of fume extraction ducts in stockhouses and a 15% backup for the possible increase in the air dust content in emergency mode.

Project to be implemented according to the following configuration: one working FDF and one backup FDF. Use of bearings without water cooling subject to the ambient temperature in summer not exceeding +65 °C.

The task was complicated by the cramped space at the installation site.

Solution

We developed a unique double-sided, energy-efficient, forced-draft fan with advanced solutions for protection against abrasive wear (in emergency mode without an electrostatic precipitator being operated) and using bearings with liquid lubrication.

In 2018-2024, a total of ten smoke exhausters were delivered. The equipment operates stably, and no abrasive wear has been detected.
